“The Story Itself Will Never Be Wrapped Up”, says Ira Steven Behr

Ira Steven Behr, Executive Producer of The 4400, talked to Slice of SciFi recently about the show. Ira had some Ira Steven Behr, Executive Producer of amazing things to say, and some interesting revelations about the writing of the show. He talks about the publicity, the writing, and his answer on the question that is in our minds…if there is a Season 5 of The 4400 in the works. I paraphrased a little, in that the interview is an audio recording, so my apologies in advance. You can listen to the live interview, and I encourage it. Here are some of the things he had to say:

On the Writing
Generally, the network wants to know that Ira and Craig have added some input before they are comfortable in reading the scripts. Ira revealed that for some seasons, they had rotating staff members who worked on the writing. Craig Sweeny and Ira do most of the rewrites. You can read more after the jump.

The 4400 4.12 “Tiny Machines” Recap

Episode Name: “Tiny Machines”
Episode Number: 4.12
Air Date: September 9, 2007
Season 4 Recap

Diana and Meghan compare notes on how well they’ve been able to keep up the ruse with Tom so that he has no idea they know of his marked status. They brainstorm on how to find out more about The Marked. Diana notes there is one person who knows more than they do.

Tom and Rebecca Parrish meet outdoors in front of a large body of water. She tells him that he has to keep Maia from having the wrong vision at the wrong time. Tom notes that the water will simply be polluted. (It seems he’s not used to seeing that much water in the future.)

WWJD T- Shirts

Well, it looks like someone has read my idea for Jordan Collier T-shirts! I’m glad Cafe Press was listening and agreed that a shirt with WWJD (What Would Jordan Do) on it would be pretty neat. “The Marked” T-shirts are nice too, as well as all the other 4400 stuff.

They didn’t go too wild on the color schemes, which is good. OK, I should be getting some money from Cafe Press any day now, right ? :)

Tom Baldwin - Getting Away With Murder

The 4400
Now that Tom Baldwin is a member of The Marked, the body count is at two (Warren Trask and Drew Imroth). Diana, Meghan, and Marco seem to be the only ones that suspect Tom. Isabelle knew right away that Tom was not himself.

How long he can hide his new personality remains to be seen. Surprisingly, Kyle had even gotten some bad vibes from Tom when he and Diana came to Promise City. Kyle mentioned in his journal that his father seemed icy, perhaps even hostile.

We can’t wait to see how long Tom can keep up the ruse. Then again, maybe it won’t matter if someone else (one of the 4400) gets to him and stops him first.

Jacqueline McKenzie at Movie Premiere

Here’s a picture of Jacqueline McKenzie at the Deep Blue Sea movie premier in 1999. She portrays the character, Janice Collins in the movie. What a great look for her, and the shark tattoo is a nice touch!

Extinction Is No Problem for “The 4400″

Xerces Blue ButterflyThe Xerces Blue butterfly that Dr. Kevin Burkhoff saw at Promise City (in Ghost in the Machine) is an actual, but extinct butterfly species. Butterflies are needed for biodiversity in nature, along with other species that help to enrich human life. Just imagine if any extinct species could be brought back to life.

Jordan revealed that a promicin-positive denizen of the city created the butterfly by using his ability to manipulate DNA. What an amazing yet scary ability to have!

Jenni Baird’s Exclusive Video Commentary

The 4400's Jenni Baird portrays NTAC Director Meghan DoyleHave you ever wondered what motivates Meghan Doyle, and how she is able to work under the pressure of being the Director of NTAC ? You can watch Jenni Baird’s exclusive video interview at the main site, in which she talks about her character Meghan’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as how she feels about working on the show. I enjoyed hearing about her camaraderie with Jacqueline McKenzie (they are both from the same town, Sydney, Australia).

Meghan was recruited by a government think tank, and nominated for the job by none other than Rebecca Parrish, Director of National Intelligence (and member of The Marked). Talk about pressure!

Jenni reveals how it felt to join a show with a large established cast, and what attracted her to the role. You also get to hear Jenni’s great Aussie accent that we never get to hear on the show!
